Artist Statement & CV

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you”

-Maya Angelou, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Each of us carries a story that is multifaceted and uniquely ours.  As a documentary photographer and poet, I am driven to show the textures, nuances and varied perspectives that come with any given story.  My true intentions are to shine a light on the sometimes forgotten or unknown sides of these lives and subject matters.

The goal of my work is to immerse myself into the subject or culture enabling me where possible to place voice and words to the photography and broadening the humanity of the story.  When opportunity meets, those writings will come directly from the subjects through their participation.

With any medium, my goal as a documentarian is to use my creative gifts for the purpose of serving through advocacy.  I want to be used as a vehicle to bring a different lens and awareness to topics of humanity for the sole objectives of shift and change.
